Bophal Chan

[Ms] Chan Bophal ចន្ទ បូផល is a Cambodian writer and translator, author in 1970 – 1971 of the first translation into Khmer of Roland Meyer’s partly autobiographical novel Saramani, danseuse khmèr (1919). 

Initially serialized in the newspaper ប្រយោជន៍ខ្មែរ [Brayoch Khmer, ​‘Khmer Benefit’], the translation, titled រឿង សារ៉ាម៉ានី : អាថ៌កំបាំង ក្នុង វាំង ស្តេច ខ្មែរ [The Story of Saramani: Secrets in the Royal Palace], was reprinted in Paris in 1996, and in Phnom Penh again in 2005.

We found out she authored at least another book — ប្រវត្តិពិតរបស់អាល់កាប៉ូនស្តេចចោរ, ឆ្នាំ១៩៧៤ [The True Biography of Al Capone, King of Thieves (Phnom Penh, 1974)].
