Alain Schnapp
Alain Schnapp (18 sep 1946, Paris, France) is an archaeologist and historian, Professor Emeritus of classical archaeology at the Université Paris I (Panthéon-Sorbonne). His main interests are Greek iconography and cultural history of Antiquity. He has been visiting scholar or visiting professor in various universities and research institutes, including Princeton University, Humanities Center at Stanford University, Getty Research Institute, Churchill College (Cambridge), Universität Heidelberg, Universität Basel, Wissenschaftskolleg Berlin, Morphomata Köln, Istituto Orientale Napoli, Università di Perugia, Collegium Budapest, and the University of Aarhus.
In 2001, Schnapp founded the Institut national d’histoire de l’art (INHA, Paris), and was its director until 2005.
