André Silice
Auguste-Léopold dit André Silice(1880, Nancy — 1951, Phnom Penh) was a French visual artist and the Director of Phnom Penh Ecole des Arts from 1922 to 1944. The School had been founded by George Groslier, who directed it from 1918 to 1922.
In charge of the Sculpted Marble Workshop in Pursat since 1919, Silice also supervised the opening of small pottery workshops near the Angkor Conservation in Siem Reap. He authored some studies on Cambodian crafts and arts, such as “Matériaux pour servir à l’étude de la céramique au Cambodge” and “Vestiges japonais au Cambodge”.
