Kirit Mankodi

Kirit Mankodi (b. 1940) is an Indologist and professor of Archaeology specializing in tracing looted or illegaly purchased looted Indian artworks.

After receiving his M.A. and Ph.D. in Archaeology from Deccan College Post-Graduate and Research Institute, Poona University, he worked at the American Academy of Benares, and since 1978 has been attached to the Project for Indian Cultural Studies founded by Franco-Indian Pharmaceuticals Pvt. Ltd., Mumbai. Mankodi is the author of The Queen’s Stepwell at Patan (1991), and hosts a website alerting on "India's Plundered Past".
