Meychean Phuy

Phuy Meychean is a Cambodian researcher in Khmer art history focusing on representations of Hindu and Buddhist goddesses, and an intern for the SOAS program Circumambulating Objects: on Paradigms of Restitution of Southeast Asian Art, London.
With a BA in Archaeology from the Royal University of Fine Arts, Phnom Penh, a Postgraduate Diploma in Asian Art and MA in History of Art and Archaelogy at SOAS University of London, she primarily researches illicit looting and trading routes of Cambodian stolen artefacts, further on leading to documenting art objects, tracing their journeys, and establishing connections to their origins.
Previously, Mechean has worked with the temple conservation and restoration team within the Cambodian Ministry of Culture and Fine Arts.
