Philip Coggan

Philip J. Coggan is an Australian independent researcher and journalist based in Cambodia who published two books about the Kingdom: Spirit Worlds: Cambodia, the Buddha & the Naga (2016), and An Illustrated History of Cambodia (2019). 

A contributor to the Mekong Review and other Southeast Asian publications, he authored the novel Shiny Objects of Desire in 2014. In the 1980s-1990s, he served as diplomatic officer in Australian embassies in Bangladesh, Burma and Iraq, and with the United Nations in Iraq and Morocco.
