Philip Coggan

Philip J. Coggan is an Australian independent researcher and journalist based in Cambodia who published two books about the Kingdom:  Spirit Worlds: Cambodia, the Buddha & the Naga (2016), and An Illustrated History of Cambodia (2019). 

In the 1980s-1990s, he served as diplomatic officer in Australian embassies in Bangladesh, Burma and Iraq, and with the United Nations in Iraq and Morocco. 

A contributor to the Mekong Review and other Southeast Asian publications, Philip Coggan authored the novel Shiny Objects of Desire in 2014, and the preface to the famed Road to Angkor by Christopher Pym (Stanfords Travel Classics, 2023).
