Tim Bewer

Tim Bewer (b. Wisconsin, USA) is a travel writer and Thailand history researcher who runs since 2012 Isan Explorer tour company, organizing slow travel cultural tours in Northeast Thailand.

After visiting Thailand for the first time in 1997 during a six-nation Southeast Asia backpacking trip, he decided in 2007 to ​“make Khon Kaen my home”, according to his website. He left behind a short career as a legislative assistant, quickly realizing that ​“I didn’t have the ego to succeed in the political world (or the stomach to work around those who did).” 

As a travel writer and photographer, Tim Bewer has worked with Lonely Planet for many years, updating their Thailand guidebook since 2006 and covering numerous other destinations for them including Laos, Mexico, Uganda, Ethiopia, Sierra Leone, and the USA.
