A report on the newest discoveries on Phnom Kulen plateau, published by the prestigious Washington Museum magazine.

This is a journalistic account on the explorations led by archeologists Jean- Baptiste Chevance and Damian Evans high up on the Phnom Kulen plateau, in quest for a pre-Angkorian city, Mahendraparvata, built during the 10th century by King Jayavarman II. The urban master plan and hydraulic system is supposed to have guided the builders of Angkor Wat capital city some two centuries later.
