Zhaolin Xu

Xu Zhaolin 許肇琳 [simplified 许肇琳] (b. 1936, Udong, Cambodia) is a Cambodian historian who settled in China at an early age, a professor at 中山大学东南亚研究所 [Institute of Southeast Asian Studies, Sun-Yatsen University] who been writing extensively on China-Cambodia relations since the earliest times, precisely the 3th century CE according to his research.
After growing up in Phnom Penh, Xu Zhaolin went to China with his father in 1950, graduated in history from Zhong Shan University, Guangzhou, in 1959. With his expertise in Cambodia-China cultural exchanges and Khmer language, he advised Chinese researcher Xia Nai in the latter’s edition of Zhou Daguan’s Customs of Cambodia.
