sk नगर nagara, "city"; kh derivative នគរ nokor, "kingdom".
- In India and ancient Southeast Asia, a town where Brahmanas lived; grama refering to smaller settlements. In Vedic texts, it is stated that each nagara or grama had its protecting female deity, nagara devata or grama devata.
- The name Angkor is derived from nokor នគរ, a Khmer word meaning "kingdom" derivating from Sanskrit nagara.
